Fitted Kitchens For Disabled People - And Anyone With Special Needs

A highly experienced team at Softley Kitchens has been designing fitted kitchens specifically for disabled people since 1981 and is proud to have been able to help make so many people's lives more manageable - more enjoyable.

For unlike alternatives, Saint Roch Kitchens are designed and manufactured to cater for individuals' particular requirements. In addition to having the capability of making any size unit, Softley Kitchens also offer an extensive range of extremely attractive, fashionable and more traditional styles.

The Northamptonshire workshop makes each kitchen individually to order - there are no stock piles of 'standard' units sitting around in warehouses, and each item that goes to make the kitchen is completely finished in the workshop, not sent out in pieces to be assembled on-site.

A GLANCE AT THE DETAILS COMMON TO ALL Saint Roch KITCHENS SHOWS THE CONSIDERATION INVOLVED: A kitchen of quality starts with sound construction. No Half Measures Here!

Softley Kitchens use top quality, sturdy, carcassing materials in a choice of finishes to perfectly compliment door and drawer fronts. the colour matches both inside and outside the cabinet. Superb metal sided soft close drawers run effortlessly on extremely smooth fully concealed and extendable runners. They are of course, secured against being accidentally pulled out completely.

The solid metal hinges are immensely strong and can open to 170 degrees where applicable to allow easier access. This underlying quality and attention to detail is common to all parts of a Saint Roch kitchen whether visible or not, and ensures long-lasting value for money.

THE CHOICE IS ENDLESS: Not being restricted to a standard range means Saint Roch Customers do not have to settle for a kitchen that stops short of meeting their needs - no longer do disabled people have to accept products that are not quite suitable or look decidedly unattractive compared with conventional kitchens. Softley Kitchens can make anything that is technically possible, to ensure a customers complete satisfaction.

Open shelf units, wine racks, cornice, pelmet and any other features normally only found in a conventional kitchen can be incorporated to add to the aesthetic value.

FUNCTIONAL AS WELL AS BEAUTIFUL: Although occasionally Saint Roch Kitchens have been fitted on an adjustable bracket system to afford the possibility of altering the height of the working surfaces at a later date, most Customers prefer a high plinth set well back to allow foot space beneath the units; this adds style to the overall appearance, avoids the necessity to clean right back to the wall and is still entirely practical.

Working surfaces are often set at different heights to suit the demands of various tasks, as well as the needs of different people working in the same kitchen. Pull-out worktops (with mixer bowl cut-outs, if required), shelving systems, pan-drawers and ironing boards together with trolleys and drop-down wall unit baskets, all add to the flexibility and practicality of Saint Roch kitchens.

Saint Roch Kitchens have proved to have been the perfect answer for Training and Assesment kitchens in Schools, hospitals and, in this case, a Day Care Centre in the West Midlands

FOR ANY DISABLED PERSON CONTEMPLATING A NEW KITCHEN, A DESIGN AND QUOTATION FROM SOFTLEY KITCHENS IS A NECESSITY: Skilled designers who have received thorough training are based in Northampton to provide advice and, if required, produce the complete scheme. If this service is requested, it is suggested Customers initially send dimensions of their kitchen to Northampton together with details of any specific requirements, providing as much information as possible.(Help with this is often available from Occupational Therapists).

The designer is then able to prepare the best scheme for each case and arrive at a quotation; if this is suitable, he can then visit Customers in their home, check measurements and discuss colour schemes and finishes. This process is carried out with the utmost care and attention to detail to ensure that everything is just right - and it is a service that is provided free-of-charge if an order results.

Once the order has been placed, delivery of the complete kitchen is usually only between six and eight weeks - in an emergency, it may be able to offer a faster service.

A FIRST-CLASS INSTALLATION SERVICE is also available where necessary, providing Customers with complete peace of mind that their new Saint Roch kitchen will be fitted to a standard in keeping with that employed throughout the design and manufacturing stages. Customers can of course, arrange their own fitting if they prefer, and advice is again available from Northampton.

THE CHOICE EXTENDS TO THE APPLIANCES: Softley Kitchens are able to offer a full range of sinks, taps and appliances to perfectly compliment Saint Roch kitchens. Again the designers will take full account of Customers' disabilities or special needs before suggesting a suitable appliance - whether the oven should have a drop-down door or a side-opening one, where the controls for the hob are to be positioned, the type of cooker-hood, and whether or not a dishwasher is appropriate, are just some of the important considerations.

Existing appliances do not all necessarily have to be replaced, of course. In an ideal world, a new kitchen would have new appliances throughout, but not all budgets will stretch to this. A Saint Roch kitchen can still work successfully with the Customer's old appliances - or just a few new ones. The highest priority for instance, is often to build in a single oven at the right height; this eliminates the danger and awkwardness of leaning over and reaching into a free-standing cooker and allows a separate hob to be fitted with knee space underneath. One may, for example, then wish to retain an existing fridge/freezer and washing machine.

The kitchen can even be planned to provide for the possibility of additional appliances being added in the future. Whatever the dilemma, a designer from Softley Kitchens is on hand to solve it.
